What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of change therapy that uses hypnosis to facilitate positive changes in a person's mental, emotional or physical well-being. It involves guiding you into a deeply relaxed, trance-like state in which you are highly focused and more open to suggestion.

Hypnotherapy begins with the first phone call with your hypnotherapist

The person who wishes to make the change must be the one to make the phone call to book the appointment. It's no good booking on behalf of another person, because they have to be fully committed to wanting to make the change for themselves.

When you call to enquire about hypnotherapy, I’ll start by asking what you’d like to achieve using hypnosis and take the time to answer any questions you may have. I love hearing about the interesting cases and explaining how hypnotherapy can make a real difference. If you've never had an experience of hypnosis before, I'll explain how it works and suggest some of the methods that may be most suitable for your particular needs. When you’re ready, we can schedule your first appointment to begin your journey.

In your first appointment, I'll ask a number of questions in the intake process. The questions range from basic details about you and your life through to some very interesting questions that are designed to get you thinking more deeply about what you wish to achieve and possible ways that you could achieve it.

In addition to guided hypnosis, I use a number of tools that are very effective for different purposes:

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - A method of tapping on meridian points while you repeat certain empowering statements.
  • Body Mind Reset Technique (BMRT) - An innovative technique that resets patterns of mental, emotional and physical issues that arise from early childhood.
  • Neurolinguistic programming (NLP) - An approach that explores the connection between language, thought patterns and behaviour, often used in hypnotherapy to help reframe limiting beliefs and foster personal change.
  • Simpson Protocol - A holistic hypnotherapy approach that facilitates communication with the subconscious mind to address and resolve physical, emotional and mental issues without the need for detailed discussion or reliving of traumatic events.
  • Parts therapy - A therapeutic approach that helps individuals explore and resolve internal conflicts by identifying and working with different aspects or "parts" of their personality.

Contrary to myths, you always aware and in control during the session. You cannot be made to do anything against your will or values.

Hypnotherapy works by accessing the subconscious mind, where many habits, beliefs and emotional responses are rooted. In this natural state, you are more open to reframing negative thought patterns and adopting healthier perspectives or behaviours.

Hypnotherapy is not mind control or stage hypnosis. You are always aware of what is happening and can choose to accept or reject suggestions.

Hypnotherapy is widely recognised as a complementary therapy, often used alongside traditional medical or psychological treatments, and is supported by research for its effectiveness in various contexts.
